Charlie Day Suggests Danny DeVito for Wario in Upcoming Mario Movie

Ahead of the highly anticipated next Mario film, Charlie Day (the voice of Luigi) and Chris Pratt (the voice of Mario) skillfully avoided confirming a potential appearance by Wario or Waluigi during their visit to the Tonight Show. Their evasive responses were widely interpreted by fans as a promising hint, as a simple denial could have easily quelled the speculation.

Given the crucial importance of these two antagonists in the Mushroom Kingdom universe, their introduction into the cinematic franchise seems inevitable. Should this come to fruition, Charlie Day already has a bold suggestion for portraying Wario. In an interview, he proposed his It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia accomplice, Danny DeVito, stating:

“Danny [DeVito] would fit so well into that world, and I think he would make a great Wario.”

It’s hard to disagree with Day’s inspired choice. This then raises another question: who should lend their talents to Waluigi? One could consider a comedian with varied vocal talent like Bill Hader, famous for his ability to create distinct and often eccentric voices. Alternatively, a flamboyant and unpredictable Sacha Baron Cohen could also excel in this role. Interestingly, Danny DeVito himself expressed his enthusiasm in 2024 for taking on the role of Wario.

In your opinion, which actors would be best suited to portray Wario and Waluigi in the future Mario movie?
