Crimson Desert on PS5: Good Performance, But Steer Clear of One Graphics Mode

Until now, there has been very little information regarding the PlayStation 5 version of Crimson Desert, leading to significant uncertainty about its overall performance. However, we can now provide some reassurance: Crimson Desert plays remarkably well even on a standard PS5, without the need for any “Pro” enhancements.

There is one notable exception, though: the Performance Mode.

This mode appears very blurry due to its 1080p resolution without upscaling, losing a substantial portion of the graphical details crucial for immersing players in the fantasy atmosphere. Furthermore, it suffers from stuttering in situations involving many NPCs. Our clear preference is therefore the Balance Mode, which targets 40 frames per second. This mode dramatically enhances visual sharpness and presents a considerably more attractive overall aesthetic.

For those who prioritize visual fidelity, the 30 fps Quality Mode is also available. This option incorporates higher-grade Ray-Tracing, which illuminates the game world more realistically, all while maintaining a solid and consistent framerate free from stutters.

This assessment is based on our initial impressions, as we only recently had the opportunity to begin playing on the console. We anticipate providing further details and insights in the coming hours and days.
