Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss – How Long to Beat & Why Curiosity is Key

In an era dominated by sprawling RPGs that demand hundreds of hours, it’s refreshing to encounter a more concise yet profoundly mysterious adventure. Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss isn’t designed to keep players endlessly engrossed, but paradoxically, the more thoroughly one explores its depths, the more satisfying the experience becomes.

During a recent interview, game director Tommaso Nuti discussed the expected completion time for the title. Given its nature as a mysterious puzzle game, the duration can certainly fluctuate. However, Nuti clarified that players who approach the game with a heightened sense of curiosity will ultimately find it more rewarding.

Nuti stated, “On average, completing the adventure will take between 12 and 15 hours, depending on the chosen difficulty mode and how deeply each player chooses to engage with the investigation.” He further elaborated, “To give you a bit more detail, our game rewards curiosity above all else. The depth of your inquiry ultimately determines the length of the experience.”

Nuti also warned that pursuing a faster progression might expose the protagonist, Noah, to greater corruption. As one might expect, this has detrimental long-term consequences for Noah and can significantly influence the ending players ultimately achieve.
