Dispatch Achieves Over Four Million Units Sold

Last week, we announced that Dispatch is finally making its way to Xbox Series S/X, following its successful launches on PC, PlayStation, and Switch. While this expansion is expected to further boost sales, the game is already performing remarkably well.

In early January, it was reported that the game had already surpassed three million players, an impressive feat considering its late October release. Just weeks later, the Switch version launched, and driven by strong word-of-mouth and excellent reviews, sales continued their upward trajectory. Now, another significant milestone has been reached.

Dispatch has now sold over four million copies globally, a well-deserved achievement. The developers have shared insights into the challenging journey to this point, particularly highlighting that numerous publishers either refused to support the game or withdrew their offers. This compelled AdHoc Studio to self-publish the title independently – a move that, despite its difficulties, proved successful, and a model they intend to adopt for future projects.

Nick Herman, the game’s creative director and co-founder of the studio, elaborated on their decision:

“We’re very happy we did it, but it was certainly a journey,” Herman stated. “We didn’t have anyone on our team who had ever published a game before. It was the naiveté of… well, I was at Telltale for 10 years and they self-published everything, so it can’t be that hard. That experience humbled us greatly. There are many advantages to controlling this. I don’t know why we would ever go back to working with a publisher.”

While the exact release date for the Xbox version remains unconfirmed, it is scheduled to arrive this summer. In the meantime, as noted, Dispatch is available on PC, PlayStation, and Switch for those eager to experience a uniquely different superhero narrative adventure.
