Divinity “Coming to Life” Says Larian CEO Swen Vincke

After the monumental success of Baldur’s Gate III in 2023, all eyes turned to Larian Studios to see what their next move would be. As revealed at the 2025 Game Awards, the acclaimed studio is returning to its roots by developing an entirely new Divinity game, simply titled “Divinity.”

In a post on Twitter/X, Larian CEO Swen Vincke shared that he recently had a particularly great day at work. During a conversation with Lead Writer Adam Smith, Vincke realized that the development of Divinity was progressing exceptionally well. “I’m talking about being in that development phase where many things are still rough or missing, but you feel a game is coming to life,” Vincke wrote.

He elaborated: “Something has been created from nothing, and you can now experience what it feels like, knowing that things are still very malleable and from here, it can only get better. It’s a good moment in any game’s life, and I expect many developers will recognize it. As our discussion moved towards the arcs of one of our antagonists and we started discussing micro-details, I thought – yeah, this is good.”

While we are likely still far from receiving a release date for Divinity—Larian aims to make this game even more ambitious than Baldur’s Gate III—updates like this confirm that significant progress is being made. The game will undoubtedly arrive one day, and even if it’s not this year or next, Divinity promises to be a project truly worth the wait.
