DreamWorks Explores Philippine Mythology in ‘Forgotten Island’

The creative minds behind beloved classics like Puss in Boots and Shrek are set to captivate audiences once again with Forgotten Island, their upcoming animated adventure. Judging by the initial previews, this film promises an equal measure of emotion, humor, and adventure, imbued with a bittersweet touch.

The seemingly simple premise involves two best friends trapped in a magical realm where their memories and identities slowly fade. This emotional dilemma is poised to bring tears to even the most stoic viewers. The narrative draws heavily from Philippine mythology, and Gabi Wilson, who lends her voice to one of the characters, shared her thoughts on the project:

“I’ve long dreamt of being a part of a project that truly represents the Philippines in a very accurate way, while also being universal enough for people to connect with. Having Philippine culture highlighted by a major studio is very exciting.”

At the helm are Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, both previously instrumental in the success of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, now gearing up for DreamWorks’ next vibrant adventure. The premiere for Forgotten Island is scheduled for September 25th.
