FaZe Vegas Named Major II Champions at Call of Duty League Event in Birmingham

The reigning Call of Duty League champions, OpTic Texas, have experienced an unusual trend in their title defense season, consistently finishing as runners-up in both Majors held so far. After falling to Paris Gentle Mates in Major I, the team once again faced defeat last weekend at Major II.

Hosted at DreamHack Birmingham, this event marked the Call of Duty League’s first venture outside North America in several years. The tournament culminated in an exciting Grand Final between OpTic Texas and FaZe Vegas, a match that ultimately did not favor the defending champions.

Following five intense maps, FaZe Vegas emerged victorious with a dominant 4-1 win over OpTic Texas. This triumph not only secured them the coveted trophy and a prize of $150,000 but also boosted their Call of Duty League points total. FaZe Vegas now sits in second place this season, a mere 20 points behind the leading champions.

Looking ahead in the CDL season, the qualifiers for Major III are scheduled to kick off on April 17th, with the main event itself slated to take place in mid-May.
