Forza Horizon 6 Poised for Record-Breaking Launch, Exceeding All Predecessors

The Forza racing franchise, which began with the original Forza Motorsport in 2005, has evolved significantly over the years. While initially popular, it was the 2012 spin-off, Forza Horizon, that truly propelled the series into a massive franchise. Today, the Horizon sub-series is what defines the Forza brand, with Forza Horizon 5 having attracted over 50 million players by last fall.

Despite this remarkable success, industry analysis firm Alinea Analytics anticipates that Forza Horizon 6 is set for an even more impressive debut. The upcoming installment transports players to Japan, featuring a meticulously recreated rendition of the country complete with iconic landmarks, sprawling cities, charming villages, and ancient temples to explore. The allure of this setting is evident, as Alinea Analytics notes:

“Our estimates indicate that Forza Horizon 6 has already surpassed 500,000 units sold on Steam more than a month before its launch.”

Coupled with 3.3 million wishlisters, this makes Forza Horizon 6 the “highest-selling Forza title on Steam prior to release, with an entire month to go.” The analysts further suggest that if “Playground Games nails it, we could be looking at a new benchmark for the racing genre.” Their projections extend to a significant sales forecast for the initial release period, concluding:

“Based on comparisons with other known quantities and major sequels, such high pre-sales indicate that Horizon 6 will generate 2 million units on Steam within its first 24 hours.”

Further boosting these numbers, China and Japan are reported to show substantially greater interest in Forza Horizon 6 compared to previous installments, suggesting that the game is tapping into new audience segments.

With its official release on May 19th, almost exactly one month from now, Forza Horizon 6 will be available on PC and Xbox Series S/X (a PlayStation 5 release will follow at a later date). The gaming world will soon see if Alinea Analytics’ predictions hold true, but current indicators strongly suggest a monumental launch for the highly anticipated title.
