Social media platforms are increasingly incorporating paid premium offerings, and Instagram is the latest to join this trend. Meta is currently testing a subscription service called “Instagram Plus,” which promises a range of exclusive functionalities.
Details of this new premium tier, initially revealed by social media consultant Matt Navarra, indicate that subscribers will gain access to features such as:
- Secretly viewing Stories without appearing in the viewer list.
- Creating unlimited audience lists for Stories, extending beyond close friends.
- Accessing data on how many times their Stories have been re-watched.
- Highlighting one Story per week.
- Sending animated Superlikes.
- Extending the lifespan of Stories by an additional 24 hours.
- Searching for specific users within the Story viewer list.
Many of these functionalities appear particularly beneficial for content creators, especially the option to keep Stories active for longer, thereby significantly increasing their potential visibility and reach.
Instagram Plus is currently undergoing testing in select global markets. It is priced at approximately $1.07 per month in the Philippines and around $2.15 per month in Mexico. The eventual pricing for this subscription service in other regions of the world remains to be determined.
