Martin Scorsese’s 1991 film “Cape Fear” remains one of cinema’s most celebrated thrillers. The movie vividly portrayed the relentless torment of a lawyer’s family by the elusive and terrifying criminal, Max Cady, a role brought to life with unforgettable intensity by Robert De Niro at the peak of his career.
Now, over three decades later, a new adaptation is on its way. Scorsese himself, alongside Steven Spielberg, is producing a television series version of “Cape Fear” for Apple TV, with its premiere slated for June 5th.
Directed by Nick Antosca, the series will feature Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as the attorney couple Anna and Tom Bowden, while Lily Collias is cast as their daughter, Natalie. Tasked with the challenge of embodying the vengeful ex-convict Max Cady and injecting fresh life into the iconic character is none other than Academy Award winner Javier Bardem.
