Kirsten Dunst to Star Alongside Sydney Sweeney in ‘The Housemaid’ Sequel

“The Housemaid,” based on the popular novel of the same name, proved to be a massive success for Lionsgate and Sydney Sweeney. The film significantly exceeded its production budget at the box office, earning over ten times its initial cost, and consistently garnered high ratings. Given its compelling thriller and horror elements, a sequel was all but guaranteed.

The follow-up, “The Housemaid’s Secret,” drawing from the second book in Freida McFadden’s series, has already been confirmed. It has now been revealed that critically acclaimed and award-winning actress Kirsten Dunst (known for her iconic roles in “Bring It On,” “Spider-Man,” and “Marie Antoinette”) has been cast to star alongside Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming film.

Erin Westerman, a Lionsgate executive, expressed her enthusiasm for the new addition:

“It’s a privilege to bring the next chapter of ‘The Housemaid’ to the screen with Kirsten Dunst. She is an icon whose career showcases extraordinary range and fearlessness. Opposite the ever-magnetic Sydney Sweeney, she will be an electrifying force in a world where nothing is ever quite as it seems.”

With Rebecca Sonnenshine returning to pen the screenplay and Paul Feig set to direct, all the ingredients for another box office hit appear to be firmly in place.
