While Marathon’s first month has brought new content and activities, players, especially those with limited time, have noted a potential issue: two primary endgame activities, Cryo Archive and Ranked mode, often clash on weekends. This overlap is not always optimal for engagement.
Marathon’s Game Director, Joe Ziegler, has acknowledged these concerns, particularly regarding Cryo Archive. Following its initial weekend, Ziegler highlighted key areas Bungie is closely monitoring and discussing for improvements.
Firstly, the game’s developer is actively exploring ways to make Cryo Archive accessible for players who cannot participate on weekends. Secondly, discussions are underway for a potential solo mode, which would allow fans to play without needing a dedicated trio to queue with. Lastly, an immediate change has been announced concerning subroutines: Ziegler confirmed that subroutines will now have a 100% drop rate in every vault going forward.
While the subroutine change is effective immediately, other more significant adjustments will naturally require additional time for implementation. Did you play Cryo Archive this weekend, and what were your thoughts?
