Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia Racing is proving to be a formidable force in the MotoGP 2026 season, having swept the first three races, including a dominant performance at the Grand Prix of the Americas. This remarkable feat marks the first time since Marc Márquez in 2014 that a single rider has claimed victory in the opening trio of races.
Adding to his triumphs from the final two rounds of 2025, the 27-year-old Italian now boasts an incredible five consecutive wins. This current streak far surpasses his previous career best, as he had never before secured more than three victories in a single season, with his highest overall championship finish being third place.
Jorge Martín, the 2024 world champion, finished second in the main race at COTA, but managed to close the gap to Bezzecchi to just four points in the overall standings by winning the sprint race – his first victory since 2024, following a challenging period of injuries last season. Meanwhile, Marc Márquez of the Ducati Lenovo Team, who was last year’s winner at this circuit, staged an impressive recovery. Starting from eleventh position, he fought his way up to fifth despite having to serve a long lap penalty for an incident with Fabio Di Giannantonio during the sprint race.
