Mewgenics is Already Playable on Nintendo Switch 2

After its highly successful PC launch earlier this year, Mewgenics developers Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel had hinted at future plans, including DLCs and console ports. However, given the small team size and the passion-driven nature of the project, it was clearly stated that these developments would take time, thus tempering expectations for a rapid release on other platforms.

Yet, it seems the console port, or at least the Nintendo Switch 2 edition, is further along than imagined. In a recent social media post, Edmund McMillen shared a video showing Mewgenics running on the Nintendo Switch 2. While not direct gameplay capture, the “over-the-shoulder” footage indicates surprisingly smooth performance, suggesting that the launch could be much closer than initially anticipated.

No firm release date has been announced yet. Nevertheless, the gameplay snippets suggest that a significant amount of crucial work is already done, especially for the combat system. The user interface appears to have been adapted to the console’s resolution, controls optimized for the controller, and overall performance is promising.

Therefore, fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer before they can enjoy Mewgenics in portable mode on Nintendo’s next console.
