Nintendo Switch 2 Price Hike ‘Inevitable,’ Warns Former Sales Manager

Given the current global economic climate, it appears a price increase for gaming hardware is becoming an expectation. While RAM prices might stabilize soon, the impact has already been felt, with Sony announcing a PS5 price hike last week, effective this month.

It seems Nintendo may soon follow suit. An unnamed former Nintendo sales manager, identified only as Sean on the ‘Kit & Krysta’ podcast, has stated this. During the online show, he claimed that a price increase for the Nintendo Switch 2 is “inevitable.”

Factors such as customs tariffs, RAM costs, and even oil prices can collectively impact the global production and distribution of the Nintendo Switch 2 and other gaming consoles. Sean elaborated, “Customs tariffs appear to be here for a while. Inflation is very persistent, and I don’t believe the issues we’re seeing in the Middle East with oil prices will improve the situation. In fact, it will likely worsen inflation and keep it around even longer.”

Nintendo has been trying to weather this economic storm for some time, but it seems unsustainable for the Switch 2 to maintain its current price point. If Nintendo does announce a price hike, the key question will be how much it increases the cost of a Switch 2, and whether this will dampen consumer enthusiasm for the brand.
