Over the Hill Surpasses 1 Million Wishlists, Closed Playtest Planned to Celebrate Milestone

The Triple-i Initiative showcase delivered on its promise, particularly for enthusiasts of independent and AA gaming. During the event, developers Funselektor and Strekla Games provided an update on their forthcoming off-road exploration title, Over the Hill.

Significantly, the game’s appeal has resulted in over one million wishlists on Steam, despite lacking a firm release date. To commemorate this achievement, a more refined version of the game will be playable later this month. A closed playtest is scheduled for April 24-26, and interested players can register now for a chance to participate.

Additionally, a new in-game region was revealed: Algeria. This playable area will feature landscapes inspired by the real country, offering exploration of plateaus, ancient ruins, and sandy valleys. Players will be tasked with discovering new routes, points of interest, and even fallen meteorites.

The official launch date for Over the Hill remains undisclosed. However, the developers have confirmed that a 2026 release window is still on track. Upon its release, the game will be available on PC, with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions to follow.

Below are new screenshots showcasing the Algerian region.
