As Overwatch’s first season of 2026 rapidly approaches its conclusion, the anticipation for Season 2 is building. Blizzard is fueling this excitement by confirming that the upcoming chapter will introduce a brand-new hero, set to be fully revealed next week.
While the hero hasn’t been officially unveiled, Blizzard’s announcement included updated key art, featuring a new character in the bottom right corner. This individual is depicted as a woman with a long pink braid, wielding a substantial rifle, and accompanied by a peculiar flying fish-like drone. These distinctive details have ignited the Overwatch community, with many believing they’ve already identified the mysterious newcomer.
A strong consensus among fans suggests that this hero is Frankie, a character first introduced in the 2021 novel, “Deadlock Rebels.” This theory gains traction from the “y’all aren’t ready for this one” phrasing used in the tease, which carries a distinct Wild West theme. This aesthetic aligns perfectly with Frankie’s background as part of the Deadlock Gang, previously led by Ashe and featuring Cassidy (formerly McCree).
All these exciting speculations will soon be confirmed or debunked, as the new hero’s full reveal is scheduled for April 8 at 5:00 PM BST / 6:00 PM CEST.
