A Russian military transport aircraft, identified as an Antonov An-26, has tragically crashed in Crimea, claiming the lives of all 29 individuals aboard. The incident, confirmed by the country’s Ministry of Defense, involved 23 passengers and 6 crew members.
The plane reportedly lost communication before crashing into a cliff on the Black Sea peninsula. Preliminary assessments, cited by Russian state news agencies, suggest that technical malfunctions may have been the cause, although no official confirmation has been provided, and no survivors were reported.
Crimea, a strategically vital region annexed by Russia in 2014, has been a key location since the onset of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
