The beloved Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek, which charmed audiences from 2015 to 2020 with its memorable characters and unique humor, will not be getting a sequel. The show, featuring an exceptional cast including Eugene Levy, Daniel Levy, Chris Elliott, Annie Murphy, and the late Catherine O’Hara, had previously sparked rumors of a continuation.
However, Dan Levy, the series’ co-creator, confirmed in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning that all plans for a follow-up have been put aside. The primary reason is the passing of Catherine O’Hara earlier this year, who brilliantly portrayed Moira Rose, Levy’s mother in the series.
Dan Levy expressed his deep emotion regarding the situation, emphasizing Catherine’s irreplaceable impact. He noted how her iconic portrayal of Moira Rose ironically generated countless memorable memes, despite O’Hara’s minimal use of the internet herself.
The question remains: Is it the right decision to definitively conclude the story of Schitt’s Creek after such a significant loss, or could the series have considered a return at a later time?
