Addressing these speculations, creator Bill Lawrence took to social media to confirm that while the series was initially planned for only three seasons, a fourth season is indeed happening. However, it will unfold a bit differently.
Earlier, Lawrence hinted at a time jump between seasons 3 and 4, followed by a “completely new story” that he described as “scary/risky/fun.” This statement led many to wonder about the fate of the established cast and characters.
However, Lawrence has since clarified his previous remarks. He confirmed that the fourth season will indeed feature the same characters and cast. The time jump and the exploration of a new narrative angle will not necessitate a complete cast overhaul.
Lawrence humorously commented on the confusion, stating, “This all got weird, lol. My bad. Yes. It’s the same characters.”
