A new behind-the-scenes video offers a glimpse into the rigorous testing the upcoming affordable Slate electric truck is undergoing before its launch. The vehicle is being pushed to its limits in seriously brutal conditions.
While we anticipate the final entry price reveal in June and the startup has already experienced a management change, interest in its product remains high. For those unfamiliar, the Slate Truck is a no-frills electric pickup supported by Jeff Bezos. The new footage shows it enduring extreme winter testing in Michigan, as the company accelerates development for production later this year.
The video showcases prototypes pushed to their boundaries by freezing temperatures, part of a critical validation phase prior to customer deliveries.
The trials took place at a dedicated cold-weather facility, where engineers subjected the trucks to demanding scenarios. This included driving through slush before placing the vehicles in freezing chambers reaching approximately -24° Celsius. These conditions are specifically engineered to uncover potential weaknesses in the components and systems.
