March 2026 witnessed the arrival of numerous significant titles in the video game world, with Crimson Desert and Resident Evil Requiem (launched late February) generating considerable buzz. One might logically assume that a prominent AAA tentpole project would have led Steam’s best-sellers list. However, according to an analysis by Alinea Analytics, the reality proved quite different.
Rhys Elliott, Head of Market Analysis at Alinea Analytics, published a detailed report dissecting March’s top-selling Steam games, revealing an undisputed champion: Slay the Spire 2. Despite being an Early Access title, this game delivered an exceptional performance, securing the top spot for the month with an impressive 5.3 million copies sold. This colossal achievement places it well ahead of the competition.
In comparison, the second best-selling title in March was reportedly Crimson Desert, with 1.9 million units sold. It was closely followed by Climber Animals Together and Resident Evil Requiem, each recording 1.2 million copies in sales.
The report further emphasizes that Slay the Spire 2 has already generated a staggering $108 million in revenue solely from the Steam platform, confirming a resounding success for its independent developer.
April is also shaping up to be a big month for video game releases. Which title, in your opinion, will manage to claim the top spot in sales this month?
