Following previous casting announcements—Ryan Hurst as Kratos, Callum Vinson as Atreus, and Alastair Duncan reprising his role as Mimir—enthusiasm for Amazon and PlayStation’s forthcoming God of War television series has been palpable. However, the initial glimpse of the show didn’t universally ignite the expected level of excitement. This evening’s announcement, we hope, will further fuel the anticipation.
Sonya Walger is confirmed to take on the role of Freya in the God of War series, set to debut next year. The British actress is widely recognized for her performance as Penny Widmore in ABC’s acclaimed series ‘Lost’. It will be fascinating to witness her interpretation of the character known as ‘the Witch of the Woods’, Odin’s ex-wife, and Baldur’s mother.
With this, one of the few remaining major roles yet to be cast is Faye, the mother of Atreus and Kratos’s second wife. Could this delay be due to hopes that ‘Daredevil’ star Deborah Ann Woll might reprise the role she voiced in God of War: Ragnarök? Such a decision would align well, especially considering rumors suggesting Faye could be a playable character in a future God of War game.
