David Corenswet’s journey into the iconic red and blue suit hasn’t been without its challenges, stepping into the formidable boots of Superman previously worn by the beloved Henry Cavill. This transition marks a pivotal moment for Peter Safran and James Gunn’s still-nascent DCU. Fortunately, the initial reception for Corenswet’s portrayal has been largely positive, hinting at a promising future. This success has seemingly fast-tracked production for a sequel, titled “Man of Tomorrow,” anticipated to hit screens as early as next year, just two years after the premiere of “Superman.”
DC Films head and director James Gunn had previously teased that fans wouldn’t have to wait until “Man of Tomorrow” to see Superman again, without divulging specifics. Most speculation naturally gravitated towards “Supergirl,” which is scheduled for release on June 26th. Other potential avenues included “Lanterns” and “Clayface,” both slated for this autumn, or even a mysterious project in spring 2027.
However, the official Supergirl Instagram account has now definitively confirmed that Superman will indeed make a guest appearance. The extent of this cameo remains under wraps for now. Given that Kal-El (Superman) and Kara Zor-El (Supergirl) are cousins, and Supergirl has already been confirmed to appear in “Superman,” this reciprocal gesture makes perfect sense.
While this confirmation doesn’t necessarily rule out other unannounced appearances for Superman within the DCU before “Man of Tomorrow,” it’s probably wise not to bank on them.
