AMC has been diligently building its own television universe, the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Launched with the success of the Interview with the Vampire reboot, and later expanded with Mayfair Witches, the universe was set to grow further with Talamasca: The Secret Order, originally scheduled for October 2025. However, it appears AMC’s plans have hit a snag, as one of these extensions has just been canceled after only one season.
It has been confirmed that Talamasca: The Secret Order will not return for a second season. The supernatural series has been axed, though this doesn’t necessarily mark the end for some of its characters.
In a statement, AMC clarified that “the Talamasca has a storied place in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”
This cancellation does not seem to signal a broader issue for the Immortal Universe, as Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches are already on track for their third seasons. Instead, it suggests that AMC might pause further extensions to re-evaluate fan expectations for the universe.
