The Eternal Life of Goldman: A Whimsical Hand-Animated Adventure Unveiled

A recent Xbox Partner Preview event showcased a variety of upcoming titles from third-party developers and publishers, primarily destined for the Xbox ecosystem. Many of these games are set to feature Cloud Gaming, Play Anywhere functionality, and inclusion in Game Pass.

Among the intriguing presentations was the somewhat eccentric project, “The Eternal Life of Goldman.” This title promises a uniquely strange adventure where players embody an elderly, seemingly bewildered gentleman named Goldman, tasked with saving the inhabitants of the Archipelago. The game immediately captivates with its exquisite, entirely hand-animated visuals.

Described as a whimsical platformer, “The Eternal Life of Goldman” draws inspiration from fairy tales and myths. As Goldman, players will navigate a magical, hand-drawn world with the overarching mission to vanquish “The Deity”—a mysterious and formidable creature whose existence is known by all, yet has never been seen. Armed with his trusty cane and an array of unique abilities, Goldman must journey through vibrant landscapes. Each area and level is meticulously designed and colored by hand using classic frame-by-frame animation techniques, adding to its distinctive charm.

For those eager to experience this peculiar journey, a playable demo has now been released. The full game is slated for launch later this year and will be available across a wide range of platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Cloud, and Xbox Series S/X. Furthermore, it will be included with Xbox Game Pass and support Play Anywhere features.
