The Last of Us Season 3 Casts Lev and Yara

The third season of The Last of Us was anticipated to introduce several new characters, and many key roles have now been filled. Following the recent news of Patrick Wilson joining the cast as Abby’s father, we now have confirmations for two more pivotal characters. One of these casting decisions has generated considerable discussion.

Michelle Mao, known for her role in Bridgerton, and Kyriana Kratter, who appeared in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, have been cast as Yara and Lev, respectively, for the upcoming third season of The Last of Us.

The conversation around Lev’s casting stems from the character being a transgender boy in both The Last of Us: Part II and the series, while Kyriana Kratter is not trans. In anticipation of potential concerns, it was highlighted that HBO “organized an inclusive casting call for Lev, with young actors from diverse backgrounds auditioning,” aiming to address any accusations regarding their approach to casting a transgender role.
