Tides of Tomorrow Won’t Launch on Nintendo Switch Due to Ambitious Graphics

Digixart’s highly anticipated narrative adventure game, Tides of Tomorrow, is set to launch later this month, on April 22nd, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Many prospective players might be wondering why this promising title won’t be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 1 or 2.

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Game Director Adrien Poncet in an interview where we discussed various aspects of the game, including the use of AI in its development, the length of its story, and why its characters are particularly noteworthy. During our conversation, we also briefly addressed the absence of a Nintendo platform release.

Poncet clarified that the decision not to bring Tides of Tomorrow to Nintendo’s consoles stems from its significantly more ambitious graphical scope compared to their previous title, Road 96. The upcoming project utilizes advanced technology that simply isn’t easily supported by the current or anticipated Nintendo Switch hardware.

He explained, “The game is graphically more ambitious than our previous game Road 96. We also use Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen and Nanite, which are not easily compatible with the Nintendo Switch. So we have focused on PS5 and Xbox Series for now.”

While this statement doesn’t entirely rule out a potential future Switch 1 or 2 edition of the game, players should manage their expectations as it doesn’t appear to be on the immediate horizon.
