Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI in Florida Car Accident

Golf icon Tiger Woods was arrested on Friday, facing charges of driving under the influence following a car accident in Florida. He was also cited for property damage and refusing to submit to a legal test. Woods was detained for eight hours, the minimum mandated by Florida law, before being released on bail.

According to the sheriff’s report, Woods’ Land Rover collided with a logging truck while attempting to overtake it, leading to the accident. Neither driver sustained injuries, though Woods reportedly exited his vehicle through the passenger door. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, Woods declined to provide a urine sample but agreed to a breathalyzer test.

The local sheriff stated that while alcohol was not suspected, authorities believed Woods might have been under the influence of other substances. However, due to his refusal, they would now never definitively know. “There is a law under which he will be charged for refusing to take that test, but we will never get definitive results on what caused his impairment at the time of the accident,” the sheriff remarked.

This incident occurred shortly after the golf legend, a former world No. 1, made his first professional appearance in over a year earlier this week. He represented the Jupiter Links Golf Club in the TGL (The Golf League) finals last Tuesday, where his team lost. Rumors had also resurfaced this week regarding Woods potentially making a return at the Augusta Masters on April 9th.
