Donald Trump has asserted that new Iranian leadership has sought a ceasefire. In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump indicated that Washington would only consider such a request if the Strait of Hormuz was reopened and secured for global shipping.
The former U.S. President characterized the current Iranian leaders as “less radicalized” and “smarter” than their predecessors. However, he cautioned that military operations would persist until these crucial conditions were met, explicitly stating a threat to send Iran “into oblivion or, as they say, to the Stone Age!!!”
This declaration reflects a notable shift in Washington’s communication, which has recently oscillated between offers of dialogue and stark warnings of further escalation. As of now, Iranian officials have not yet confirmed the alleged ceasefire request, leaving the situation’s future development uncertain.
Trump’s full statement on Truth Social read:
“The new President of the Iranian regime, much less radicalized and much smarter than his predecessors, has just asked the United States of America for a CEASEFIRE! We will consider it when the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are sending Iran into oblivion or, as they say, to the Stone Age!!!”
