Real Madrid forward Vinícius Jr. recently traveled to the United States for a series of friendly matches with the Brazilian national team, facing France on March 26th and Croatia on March 31st, ahead of the upcoming World Cup. Called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti, Vinícius spoke to the media in Brazil, where he was questioned about Antoine Griezmann’s recent announcement regarding a move to MLS.
“Griezmann is a fantastic player; he has had an excellent career in Spain and with the French national team. I wish him the best of luck; I really admire his style. I believe he will bring a great deal to the league,” stated the Brazilian star, who had played against Griezmann just last Sunday in a Madrid derby with Atlético, where Vinícius notably scored twice.
However, when asked if he envisioned following Griezmann’s path to MLS, Vinícius responded that he is still young and his sole focus remains on Real Madrid. “I want to stay there for a long time,” he affirmed. Despite his declared commitment, the club has yet to finalize a contract renewal. Reports indicate ongoing disputes with Real Madrid concerning his salary, with the player reportedly aiming for remuneration comparable to that of Kylian Mbappé.
