Warhammer’s April Fool’s Day Prank Takes the Stage as a Full-Blown Musical

April Fool’s Day typically brings out various pranks from brands, developers, and creators. While most opt for simple gags like a fake tweet, Games Workshop took a dramatically different approach this year, diving headfirst into a spectacular Warhammer 40,000 musical.

Though not a genuine three-hour stage production, “The Emperor Protects: A Warhammer 40,000 Musical” certainly boasts the costume budget of one. This elaborate hoax features Space Marines, Adepta Sororitas, Necrons, and other iconic factions performing on stage in a way fans have never witnessed before. A 2.5-minute trailer for this fictional musical was released, and Warhammer+ subscribers can also enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes content.

While a Warhammer 40,000 stage musical may not be imminent, the franchise, once associated primarily with niche enthusiasts, is undeniably expanding its reach into mainstream culture. With an Amazon Prime TV series currently in development and a new edition slated for release this year, the grimdark universe is poised to attract a significant influx of new followers.
