Bayern Munich Secures Bundesliga Title, Sets Records, and Eyes Historic Treble

With four matches remaining in the 2025/26 season, Bayern Munich has officially clinched the Bundesliga title. A thrilling 4-2 comeback victory against Stuttgart secured their championship, putting them an impressive 14 points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund. This triumph allows Bayern to fully shift their focus to their remaining competitions, with the treble now within reach. They are already in the semi-finals of both the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) and the Champions League.

Bayern Munich’s dominance in the league is staggering, having won 13 of the last 14 league titles. Their only recent slip-up was in the 2023/24 season, when they finished behind an undefeated Bayer Leverkusen. However, this current season has seen them achieve an even higher level of performance. They have set a new Bundesliga record, scoring an astonishing 109 goals with four games still to play. Prior to this, only two teams had ever surpassed the 100-goal mark in a single season: Bayern themselves in 1971/72 and again in 2019/20. A remarkable 59 of these goals have come from the combined efforts of Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise.

The next significant challenge for Bayern is the DFB-Pokal. They are set to face Bayer Leverkusen in a high-stakes, single-elimination match this Wednesday, April 22nd. Should they emerge victorious, they will advance to the final to play either Stuttgart or Freiburg.

Looking ahead to the following week, Bayern is scheduled to face reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain in a crucial Champions League semi-final tie for a place in the final.

Despite their league success, Bayern still has further records to pursue. With a current record of 25 wins, 4 draws, and just 1 defeat, securing victories in their remaining four matches would see them equal the Bundesliga’s all-time points record of 91, a feat also achieved by Bayern Munich in the 2012/13 season. That memorable year, Bayern went on to win the treble, a remarkable achievement they repeated in 2019/20, the last time they lifted the Champions League trophy. Should they manage to win the treble again this season, they will become the first European team in history to achieve this prestigious accomplishment three times.
