Blasphemous Sells Over Five Million Copies

The Game Kitchen is celebrating a major triumph with its indie Metroidvania title, *Blasphemous*, which first launched in September 2019. Since its debut, the game has garnered widespread acclaim from both players and critics, benefited from several DLC releases, and has since been followed by a dedicated sequel, with a potential third installment on the horizon.

The Spanish developer has announced that the original *Blasphemous* has now sold over five million copies. This impressive sales figure was achieved in less than seven years, indicating an average of roughly 700,000 units sold annually since its release. This is a remarkable accomplishment for an independent project.

Regarding the future of the *Blasphemous* franchise, The Game Kitchen last expressed in the summer of 2025 their strong desire to continue expanding this universe. While this doesn’t definitively confirm a third main installment, the studio’s enthusiasm suggests exciting prospects for the series’ continuation.
