Microsoft dramatically increases Xbox Series X/S prices

Prepare for a substantial price increase. Microsoft has announced that the Xbox Series X/S will become significantly more expensive starting August 1st. The company attributes this decision to the sharp rise in the cost of memory and storage components.

These new prices mean that the base model of the Xbox Series X will cost $150 more, and the Series S will be $100 more expensive. Microsoft has not yet specified if or how these changes will affect prices in markets outside of the United States.

The new prices in the United States, effective August 1st, are as follows:

  • Xbox Series S 512GB: $399.99 → $499.99
  • Xbox Series S 1TB: $449.99 → $599.99
  • Xbox Series X 1TB (Digital Edition): $599.99 → $749.99
  • Xbox Series X 1TB: $649.99 → $799.99

Microsoft also emphasized that gaming consoles traditionally operate on very slim profit margins. The company is committed to trying to mitigate the impact of these considerable price increases, notably by offering interest-free installment payments and more alternative financing solutions.
