While PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S players have been enjoying 007 First Light since late May, Nintendo Switch 2 owners are still anticipating its release. IO Interactive, the Danish developer, announced in April that the Switch 2 edition of the game would be delayed indefinitely without a specific launch date.
As July draws to a close with no new information, Pocket Tactics spoke with Theuns Smit, Senior Licensing Producer at IO Interactive, to get an update on the 007 First Light Switch 2 version.
Smit stated that work on this edition is “moving along nicely, it’s going great, we’re seeing some really good progress on the optimization side, because that’s essentially what it’s all about for us.” He added, “we want to make sure we dedicate all the time we need to the optimization and the performance, [so that] it reaches the quality that we want, but also the quality that we feel our players deserve.”
Regarding the release date, Smit commented, “we’re looking forward to the end of the summer, and you know, when we’re ready to say more, we will, but from what I can tell you, for now anyway, it’s all on track, it’s moving along nicely and it’s going well.”
Therefore, Switch 2 users may not have to wait much longer to join the action. Interestingly, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which was released a few days before 007 First Light, is set to receive its Switch 2 version in September. This could indicate a similar timeframe for 007 First Light this autumn.
