The Ducati Lenovo MotoGP team has finalized its rider lineup for the upcoming seasons, confirming significant changes. Following the earlier announcement of Marc Márquez’s contract extension through 2028, the team has now revealed that 22-year-old Pedro Acosta, currently with KTM and a former Moto3 and Moto2 world champion, will become Márquez’s teammate for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
Acosta earned the “Rookie of the Year” title in 2024 and secured fourth place in the overall 2025 MotoGP championship standings. He currently holds sixth place in the standings, five points ahead of the rider he is set to replace.
This strategic move means that the current Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia, will depart the team at the end of 2026. Bagnaia has been with Ducati for eight seasons, during which he achieved back-to-back world championships, marking the team’s first titles since Casey Stoner in 2007. While Bagnaia claimed the MotoGP world championship in both 2022 and 2023, he has faced challenges in maintaining momentum due to a series of injuries and technical issues, ultimately leading to Acosta’s future integration into the team. Rumors suggest Bagnaia will move to Aprilia.
