Robert Henrysson, who took the helm as CEO of Supermassive Games in January 2024, has announced his resignation. In a LinkedIn post, he revealed his decision to step down from his leadership role at the studio and has also severed professional ties with Nordisk Games.
Prior to his tenure at Supermassive, Henrysson held significant positions at Avalanche Games Group, serving as both President and interim CEO, and was instrumental in the development and launch of the popular “Just Cause” series.
During his time with Supermassive Games, Henrysson expressed his honor in guiding the studio through a period of “intense industry changes,” stating that he worked to “broaden its client base and establish a culture of consistent quality in all aspects of the game development process.” His leadership was crucial for the three titles released under his direction: Little Nightmares 3, The Casting of Frank Stone, and Directive 8020.
Henrysson also shared a heartfelt message for his former colleagues: “To the entire Supermassive Games team, I am so grateful for all that I have learned and experienced with you. You are the best narrative video game studio in the world – you are amazing! And I wish you all the very best for the future.”
While he plans to take a summer vacation with his family, Henrysson has indicated his commitment to remaining active in the video game industry and is open to new collaborations. He also confirmed his attendance at Gamescom.
