Nearly 40 years ago, Yogurt hinted at a potential sequel titled “Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.” While this would have been a fitting name for the upcoming film, it’s not the title they’ve chosen. Instead, the new title is also quite fitting, capturing something else entirely about the movie.
Without further ado, the second film is officially titled Spaceballs 2: The New One. Mel Brooks himself confirmed this in a new teaser trailer. Brooks explains that Spaceballs 2 isn’t called “The Search for More Money” because he found the money and already has it safely stored.
At CinemaCon, audiences got a sneak peek at the film, which is slated for release next April. The movie is expected to feature numerous nods to the Star Wars trilogy, as one would expect. Additionally, viewers can anticipate a scene with a Na’vi character urinating under Dark Helmet’s gaze, a pizza character named Pizza the Hutt, and a muscular Yogurt. What more could you ask for?
