ZPF Arrives on PC, Switch, and Xbox Today – Launch Trailer Available

The Mega Drive boasts one of the most vibrant retro gaming communities, largely due to its excellent development tools. This has led to a wealth of new releases, and among the standout titles is the 2025 shoot ’em up, ZPG.

This game delivers classic shooter action reminiscent of titles like Thunder Force IV, Gley Lancer, Gradius, and R-Type. Today, developer Mega Cat Studios announced that an even wider audience can now experience ZPG, confirming its release on PC, Switch, and Xbox. They emphasize that this new version is more than just a port; it’s a faithful, pixel-perfect translation of the 16-bit chaos the game is celebrated for.

To preserve the integrity of the pixel art, ZPG will not feature stretched graphics. Instead, it offers selectable display frames. The developers state, “Pixel art should never be stretched. To maintain the original arcade aspect ratio while making the most of your monitor, we’ve included two unique custom display frames. These allow the ‘Future Metal Fantasy’ aesthetic to truly shine without compromising integer-scaled gameplay.”

Check out the launch trailer below for a glimpse of this fast-paced and stylish shoot ’em up. Having experienced the Mega Drive version, we can attest to its genuinely fun gameplay, providing that irresistible “just one more try” feeling even after the Game Over screen appears.
