The other two ties were considerably more dramatic. Atlético de Madrid edged out Barcelona in a closely contested affair, with Barça winning the second leg 2-1 but Atlético progressing 3-2 on aggregate. Equally thrilling was the tie between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, where Bayern emerged victorious with a 4-3 win in the second leg, securing a 6-4 aggregate triumph.
