Looking for an action-packed and thrilling movie experience? Vertical’s upcoming project, titled “The Weight,” might be just what you’re after. This film centers on a criminal offered a chance at freedom in exchange for orchestrating a daring gold mine heist from a harsh penal colony.
The story follows Samuel, portrayed by Ethan Hawke, who strikes a deal with the prison director, played by Russell Crowe. Samuel’s mission: to steal the gold being extracted from the camp, escape, and deliver it to a remote location. Success means his freedom and a reunion with his daughter, who faces adoption proceedings due to his imprisonment. As one might expect, such a heist is fraught with peril. The fugitives will contend with relentless law enforcement, a hostile environment, and the ever-present threat of betrayal.
Directed by Padraic McKinley, “The Weight” is slated for theatrical release on September 18th.
Official Synopsis: “Torn from his daughter and cast into a brutal penitentiary, Samuel (Ethan Hawke) is presented with a high-stakes proposition by Warden Clancy (Russell Crowe): smuggle a haul of gold out of an isolated mine with a team of dangerous inmates, and he’ll earn his freedom back.”
