Fable Delayed Internally, Potential December or 2027 Release

This year could be monumental for Xbox. As the platform celebrates its 25th anniversary, significant titles are on the horizon. Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, and a host of other games could make 2026 a memorable year. However, it appears one of these major releases might not be as imminent as we’d hoped.

Insider Jeff Grubb recently stated on his Game Mess Mornings show that he has reservations about Fable’s release date, having heard that the game has been internally postponed. In the clip below (via IdleSloth), Grubb mentioned:

“I will say that I’ve heard that Fable has been delayed internally. That does not mean it’s coming out next year. Apparently, they are still trying to get it out this year, but they are worried about Grand Theft Auto VI launching. If it gets delayed beyond the GTA6 launch, that could push it into December, which could make it a prime candidate to be pushed into 2027.”

We’ve seen major Xbox games launch in December before; Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a recent example, though it’s less common for major releases to cap off the year in this manner. Fable has been a long-awaited title, and we’d love for it to be ready this year. If it isn’t, it could potentially impact Xbox’s otherwise strong year, or perhaps the games we already have will be so impressive that we’ll be content waiting a little longer for Fable.
