James Gunn Denies Rumors of Maxima Casting in ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow’

Recently, a rumor circulated suggesting that James Gunn was considering Adria Arjona, Ella Purnell, or Marisa Abela for the role of Maxima in the upcoming film Superman: Man of Tomorrow. This trio of potential casting choices generated significant buzz. The original report, which quickly gained traction, originated from The Hollywood Reporter, but it appears to have been inaccurate.

Gunn has since addressed the rumor on Threads, completely refuting it. The co-founder of DC Studios stated that the report was “bullshit” and, while he is familiar with Arjona from their work on The Belko Experiment, he has “never met” either Purnell or Abela.

Therefore, it’s unlikely we’ll see any of these three actresses in the forthcoming sequel. However, this denial leaves open the possibility that Arjona could be considered for the role of Wonder Woman, a prospect Gunn has previously described as an “excellent” choice.
