However, rumors circulated this week suggesting that Saudi Arabia might cease its funding for the league. Both The Daily Telegraph and the Financial Times reported that the Public Investment Fund was on the verge of cutting its support, with leadership reportedly called to an emergency meeting.
Scott O’Neil, CEO of LIV Golf, assured employees in a memo that nothing will change. “I want to be crystal clear: our season is continuing exactly as planned, with no disruption and at full strength. While the media landscape is often filled with speculation, our reality is defined by the work we’re doing on the ground. We are heading into the heart of our 2026 schedule with all the energy of an organization that is bigger, louder, and more influential than ever before,” he stated.
“We signed up for this because we believe in disrupting the status quo,” O’Neil continued. According to Reuters, Saudi Arabia will continue its full support of the golf league, and the season will proceed. Nine tournaments remain on the 14-event schedule, with this week’s event taking place in Mexico.
LIV Golf continues to attract major names in the sport, though it recently lost two notable players: five-time major winner Brooks Koepka and Masters champion Patrick Reed. Nevertheless, the prize purse for the 2026 season has increased to $30 million, and the league has expanded to 13 teams.
