Paramount Pictures is focusing on cultivating its existing franchises, with plans for new installments in several popular series. At CinemaCon, the studio confirmed that new films are in development for World War Z, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Paranormal Activity, Star Trek, Longlegs, and Jackass. Additionally, further projects related to Sonic the Hedgehog are anticipated beyond the already announced Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
The announcement of a new World War Z film comes 13 years after the original. While zombie narratives are currently popular, the direction of the sequel remains to be seen, especially given the relatively hopeful conclusion of the first film.
The Transformers franchise also presents some intrigue. Despite the animated film Transformers One receiving positive reactions from fans and critics, it did not achieve significant box office success. This suggests that future live-action Transformers films may draw inspiration from or revisit the style of Michael Bay’s earlier entries, even if Bay himself is not directing.
