While many are familiar with the name CD Projekt Red, it might come as a surprise to learn that this moniker has historically belonged solely to the game development studio responsible for critically acclaimed and immensely popular titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077. The parent Polish company has, until now, been known simply as CD Projekt. However, this is set to change.
According to Polish financial news outlet Bankier.pl, CD Projekt has made the decision to rebrand itself as CD Projekt Red. This move aims to unify the company’s identity with that of its development arm. The official confirmation of this change occurred during a recent general meeting. After over 30 years under the CD Projekt name, since its inception in 1994, the company will now officially operate as CD Projekt Red.
A translated statement regarding the rebranding clarifies the rationale: “According to the Management Board, the new company name will ensure consistency in communication regarding the CD Projekt RED brand, which will, among other things, facilitate the identification of the company with its products on the global market and support recruitment processes.”
In terms of upcoming projects, CD Projekt Red is currently working on The Witcher 4, with a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 also reportedly in the works.
