Panache Games is gearing up for the August release of its supernatural action-adventure and investigation game, 1666: Amsterdam. The early access version is slated to launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store on August 25th, priced at $29.99 / €29.99.
To commemorate the upcoming launch, Jean-François Boivin, co-founder and executive producer at Panache Digital Games, has shared a new video offering a glimpse into the game's dark world of witchcraft and black magic. In this realm, the inhabitants' life cycles are dictated by the full moon, a period referred to as "Esbats." Players will step into the shoes of the protagonist, Noa. By day, she operates as a "Collector," identifying "Originals" – sinister beings hidden among the city's populace. Noa's daily task is to investigate these Originals to uncover their true nature. As night falls, the hunt begins.
The game's prologue, available on both the Epic Games Store and Steam, introduces how Noa, following her initiation, chooses her companion, Aaron. Aaron, a cat, will accompany her on her journey. Aaron brings unique stealth abilities to the duo and possesses a special power to influence the minds of others.
Players will also get a look at the third-person combat system, which focuses on attacks and dodges, particularly when an Original reveals its true form. This system blends combat with enchanted weapons and potions. Each Original will present a distinct fighting style, and defeating them allows for their power to be sealed, though only until the next lunar cycle.
While there is much to explore in 1666: Amsterdam, the August 25th early access release signifies the beginning of a continuous refinement and improvement process, driven by community feedback.
