It's that time of year again when Larian Studios, the developers behind the acclaimed Baldur's Gate III, shares a wealth of player statistics. While most of the data is impressive and unsurprising, some of the revealed figures are, to say the least, concerning.
These new insights indicate that over half a billion mods have been downloaded for the celebrated RPG, with an additional 13,000 mods uploaded. Furthermore, it's confirmed that Zevlor is frequently the NPC who meets their demise most often. The 'Blood of Lathander' has been utilized over 670 million times, and the 'Poo-Scraper' has seen combat use four times in Act 3. Less than 1% of players have managed to amass over 180,000 gold pieces in a single playthrough, and an equally small percentage have stocked up on more than 4,000 camp provisions.
Once again, there are already some puzzling trends and insights to digest, but it gets significantly worse… much, much worse.
Larian disclosed that 114 individuals, whom we can only describe as truly unhinged, chose to play Baldur's Gate III in a 1:1 aspect ratio. An additional 9,008 players apparently believed the best way to conquer this massive RPG was through a 9:16 format, akin to TikTok. Yes, there are 9,122 people among this group who genuinely deserve to be put behind bars.
