EA Delists Battlefield: Hardline from Consoles, Online Services Ending Soon
Electronic Arts has announced the impending removal of Battlefield: Hardline from digital storefronts on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This decision also signals the upcoming cessation of online services for these console versions, with the shutdown expected this summer.
The precise date for the game's delisting is set for Friday, May 22. From this day forward, Battlefield: Hardline and all its downloadable content will no longer be available for purchase on console digital platforms. A month later, on Monday, June 22, the online multiplayer services will be permanently discontinued. While players will still retain access to and be able to play the single-player campaign, the multiplayer component—arguably what Battlefield is best known for—will become inaccessible.
Notably, the PC version of the game is exempt from this action. It will remain listed and available for purchase, continuing to offer fully functional online multiplayer for the foreseeable future. However, the official communication clarifies that this exemption pertains to "today's update," hinting that its status could potentially change at a later date.
In short, for console players who have not yet experienced Battlefield: Hardline, it would be wise to acquire the game in the coming weeks before it vanishes from digital shelves.
